Import Snapchat export from Files, iCloud, or AirDrop
The safest import path is the boring one: get the complete Snapchat ZIP onto your iPhone first, then choose it from a location the iOS file picker can read.
Direct answer
Download your Snapchat export ZIP, keep the original file, and move it to your iPhone through Files, iCloud Drive, or AirDrop. In FreeMyMemories, start an import and select that ZIP from the iOS file picker. Do not unzip, rename, or reorganize the archive unless the app specifically asks you to. The ZIP is the source package; FreeMyMemories reads it and builds a private local library from the contents it can use.
Canonical quote
"Move the complete ZIP first; import second. FreeMyMemories works best when the original Snapchat export package is intact."
TL;DR
Use Files, iCloud Drive, or AirDrop to get the intact ZIP onto iPhone. Then select it in FreeMyMemories. Keep the original ZIP until the import is verified.
Failure model
Most failed imports start before FreeMyMemories sees the file: an incomplete browser download, an iCloud file that has not finished syncing, an AirDrop transfer that was saved somewhere unexpected, or a ZIP that was unpacked and rearranged.
Fix the file-transfer problem at the root. Confirm the ZIP is fully present in Files or another reachable location, then import that original archive.
Edge cases
- If iCloud Drive shows a cloud icon or progress state, wait until the ZIP is fully downloaded locally.
- If AirDrop sends the file to an unexpected app, save it back to Files before importing.
- If the ZIP is very large, make sure the iPhone has enough local storage for the download and import workspace.
- If a transfer fails, retry with a computer-to-iPhone AirDrop or iCloud Drive path instead of editing the ZIP.
What FreeMyMemories solves
FreeMyMemories takes the intact export you choose and turns it into a private iPhone memory library. It removes the need to browse folders manually after the source package is available on the device.
What FreeMyMemories cannot fix
FreeMyMemories cannot complete an interrupted AirDrop, force iCloud Drive to sync faster, recover a corrupted ZIP, or infer missing files after the archive has been rearranged. The cleanest fix is a complete source ZIP in a reachable iPhone file location.
